Saigon Vietnamese Food (Ben Thanh Market & Pho 2000)

As part of our Ho Chi Minh city tour we were able to eat some delicious Vietnamese food. In downtown Saigon we first went to Pho 2000, a famous Vietnamese noodle place where President Bill Clinton ate at. There we tried their Beef Pho, Chicken Pho & Shrimp Beef Spring Rolls. Perhaps we had too high expectations, but we thought these were good though not great. The street food at Ben Thanh Market were a different story, however. They had delicious food at amazingly low prices. We really enjoyed the Vermicelli & Sour Crab Soup (Bun Rieu Cua), a Vietnamese thick noodle soup called Banh Canh, and Steamed Rice Cakes with Shrimp (Banh Beo).

This was part of our Saigon Vietnam tour via our 14 day 2018 Asia Cruise.

  • I know you're an outsider, NOT familiar with Vietnam so I bear no grudge against you. So FYI, Ho chi Minh (hcmc) is communist. Unless you are pro communist, then use hcmc. Otherwise, plz say SAIGON. Airport code is still SGN.
