I have always seen my family and Laotian people cut pineapples in the same way. This method gives the pineapple a nice shape and reduces the waste of its flesh.

  1. WHAT A LOVELY PRESENTATION…AND BEAUTIFUL WAY TO SKIN, CUT, AND PRESENT THIS EXOTIC FRUIT THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN, A DIFFICULT TASK. ……THANK YOU.

  2. I have to agree with all the people asking why you would take that long to cut a pineapple. The only reason I would ever do it the "it-takes-all-day" method would be if I were presenting it as a work of art. And that would probably be NEVER.

  3. It's how my father cut pineapple and trust me, it doesn't take a long time. He only took about 3 to 5 minutes to cut it this way.

  4. Love the goal of minimal waste. Watched another cutting tutorial and my jaws dropped at the casual tossing of so much good stuff. Yours is the more respectful way of treating the fruit. Thank you for sharing! And what cleaver presentation at the end!

  5. It takes a long time but it's good for your eyes 👌 if you love cooking than no matter how long it takes you're having fun doing it 👨‍🍳

  6. This is an art. I never watched my dad do it but always wondered how the pineapple pieces look so big. This is the video, that explains it his craft! Lol minus the skewers.

  7. To reduce the waste is the reason I’m the only one in the family doing this. But I simply poke out those ones you cut and squeeze the juice out and we eat the hard part as well.

  8. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. This technique is very logical and the result is quite lovely. It’s too bad so many people opt to be so wasteful because they can’t be bothered to take the time to do it right. Your final step to reassemble the pineapple for presentation is quite lovely. I willl have to try this method the next time I go to the market. I want to eat it with a toothpick just like you did. Thank you 🙂

  9. Thank you. I haven't done it yet but I will try.Furthermore, I will try using a paring Knife for the finer cuts and a large knife similar to the one you used for the bulkier cuts.

  10. I am trying this method.
    I’ve got time.
And I’ll try using a paring knife the detailed, spiral part.
I’ll skip the skewers and just slice and freeze.
    I’m using it for smoothies.
